Lori Lambropoulos

Lori Lambropoulos is currently the Principal of the Energy Institute High School in Houston ISD and is a change agent at heart! She 'imagined" the school from the ground up and has led it for eight years. It is an energy themed, full project based learning, state of the art STEM magnet program. After 27 years in education, her public inner city high school rivals the best innovative STEM programs in the United States. If you were to ask her why and how she did it, she would start by saying she was tired of America's teenagers saying the best part of their school day is lunch! She would also say she did not do this alone. The teaching staff and leadership team have come from all over the nation to design and participate in their outstanding and unique programs. Lori has been a Texas native for most of her life. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in Austin in 1989 and went on to receive her Master's degree from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches in educational leadership in 2006. In 2007, she was awarded Best New Dean of Students at Westside High School in Houston ISD. In 2012, she was awarded HISD’s High School Assistant Principal of the Year after being promoted as the Dean of Instruction at Westside High School. And in 2019, she was awarded South Area High School Principal of the Year for her work at Energy Institute High School. The school has enjoyed critical acclaim in several national newspapers and magazines for its innovative project based learning curriculum and its unique architectural design fostering non-traditional educational models. Last year, Energy Institute High School earned the Donald R. Waldrip Magnet School of Merit Award of Excellence for commitment to diversity, academic excellence and curriculum innovation. Mrs. Lambropoulos is married and has four children of her own and lives in Houston, Texas. Her mission in education is to provide experiences for high school students that grow passion in them to cultivate their community/energy industry involvement here and now.
